Hurons Win with Late Rally
|
Montreal wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Manny Esparza, falling to the Toronto Hurons, 5-4. Esparza threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Al West earned his 10th save in 15 chances. The Hurons, at 58-87, have now won 4 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Pete Hambrick, the 24-year old right fielder . Hambrick contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Toronto up, 5-4.
In postgame remarks, Hambrick simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
