Drillers Victors, 4-1, at Seattle
|
The Houston Drillers got a strong performance from pitcher Syed Farooqi, who stymied the Seattle offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Puget Field. In 9 innings, Farooqi surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Houston has now won 4 straight.
Houston used the clutch hitting of Eddie Ellison to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Drillers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"You want to go out there and put up zeroes, that's the main thing," said Farooqi. "You don't want to get caught in one of those back-and-forth, run-for-run games."
