The New York Knickerbockers beat the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-4, in part because of second baseman Steve Wright. He was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. Reliever Steve Worlund picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Bill Hoel took the loss. The 4th-place Knickerbockers hiked their record to 72-74.

Javier Guerra went 1-4 with a walk for New York. The 29-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Bill Hoel. It was his 52nd walk of the season.

"It feels good to get this one," Wright told the New York Chronicle.
