Seattle Emeralds starter Denny Goldberg turned in a top-notch performance against the San Francisco Seagulls at Mission Field. The result was a win for the Emeralds, 5-1. Goldberg, now 14-13, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Emeralds improved to 68-79.

The Emeralds benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Gary Patterson at bat and Seattle leading 2-1, the San Francisco miscue allowed Seattle to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-1.

"Denny throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
