Seagulls Prevail, 4-2, Over Seattle
|
San Francisco picked up a win at Mission Field, bumping off the Seattle Emeralds, 4-2. Pitcher Tim Stambaugh was a major reason the Seagulls emerged victorious. Stambaugh, now 14-14, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, the Seagulls hiked their record to 77-70.
With San Francisco leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Stambaugh hit a 2-run single off Seattle hurler John Walker. It was the 13th hit of the season for Stambaugh and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"Tim set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
