The Chicago Hawks withstood an impressive performance by Twin Cities second baseman Steve Pavey to defeat the Northmen, 9-8, at Twin Cities Stadium. Pavey was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The win puts Chicago at 54-93.

Don Bozza came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-8. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
