Empires Lose to Habitants, 6-1
|
The Montreal Habitants beat the New York Empires, 6-1. Montreal pitcher and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native Rich Barron led the way. With the victory, the Habitants upped their record to 88-59.
The Habitants got a big at-bat from left fielder Jerry Sullivan. For the game, Sullivan was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 5th triple of the season gave Montreal a 3-1 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Sullivan.
