The 4-2 San Francisco win over Los Angeles was due in large part to John Cobb. The Seagulls third baseman was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Archie Sereni got the save, the 3rd for him this season. The Pobladores fall to 5-9 and continue their uneven start to the 1977 season.
Cobb contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for San Francisco in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Cobb took a sinker from Dan Turner and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Seagulls to leap in front, 3-1.
Cobb attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
