Captains Use Late Surge to Win
|
Randy Barnes added some punch to the San Diego offense, helping them outmuscle the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 9-7. In the game, Barnes, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in RBI with 86, went 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. The victory gives San Diego a record of 78-70.
Ron Byrd came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-7. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
