Explorers Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Traders
The St. Louis Explorers sent the home crowd home ecstatic.

The St. Louis Explorers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ken Morrison. The right-hander kept the Chicago offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 2-1 St. Louis victory at Corps of Discovery Stadium. St. Louis pitcher Dick Lott got the win. He's now 10-5. Jimmy Calhoun was tagged with the loss.

The decisive blow was delivered by Chuck Panetta in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Calhoun to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.

"The crowd was raucous," said Morrison.

Chicago now owns a losing streak of 7 games.
