Burros Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
Denver Burros starter Bob Langham pitched effectively against the San Diego Captains at Gates Crescent Park. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-3 win. Denver reliever Frank Combs got the win, raising his record to 10-3. Brian Meade was tagged with the loss. Denver leads the National Baseball League Western Division by 9½ games.
Jimmy Benson was the walk-off hero for Denver. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Burros pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This wasn't a good win," said Langham. "It was a great win."
