Wranglers Clipped by Drillers, 4-3
|
Dallas right fielder Steve Walp was sensational. He was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Houston beat the Wranglers, 4-3. Bill Switzer got credit for the win, improving to 4-12. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Drillers raised their record to 74-74.
Mickey Hoffman was the walk-off hero for Houston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Drillers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Dallas manager William Albrecht said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
