Empires Rack Up 8-1 Win Versus Atlanta
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Atlanta Generals and New York Empires get after it.
The New York Empires downed the Atlanta Generals, 8-1, at Queens Field. Stellar pitching by Nate Frampton had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the ABL in innings pitched with 242.0, handcuffed his opponent all game. Frampton picked up the win for New York, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 15-14.
Al Castro had a big 3-run home run for the Empires in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Renie White, who is tied for 8th in the ABL in saves with 14, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Empires on top, 4-0.
"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Philipe Yazzie.
The win boosted New York to 78-70.
