Hawks Suffer 8-6 Road Loss
|
Chicago left fielder Bobby Strange had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Strange went 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Twin Cities beat the Hawks, 8-6. Paul Whitaker got the win, improving to 9-9. He worked 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Twin Cities, now 65-83, holds down 6th place in the American Baseball League Western Division.
David Davalos had a big 3-run home run for the Northmen in the bottom of the third inning. With Twin Cities trailing 4-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Mike Haskett and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Northmen on top, 5-4.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Davalos.
