Dairymen Lose, 4-1, at Union Field
|
Chicago Traders starter Larry Cox turned in an exceptional performance against the Milwaukee Dairymen at Union Field, resulting in a Chicago win, 4-1. In 8.2 innings, Cox surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. The Traders keep rolling, raising their record to 10-6.
The Dairymen had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Traders going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old left fielder Walt McCord came to the plate. McCord hit a 2-run double on a 1-1 fastball from Milwaukee hurler Tom Rockliffe. It was McCord's 1st double of the year.
"When Larry is on, he can really move the ball around," said Chicago manager Larry Link.
