Empires Deal Hurons 5-3 Defeat
|
Dominion Field was the site of a competitive game between the Toronto Hurons and New York Empires.
The New York Empires picked up a win at Dominion Field, dropping the Toronto Hurons, 5-3. Nate Frampton, who finished 2nd in the ABL in ERA with 1.99 in 1965, was the difference-maker. Frampton yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-1. Chuck Hinck locked down his 1st save.
New York used the hitting of Lowell Bickle to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Empires on top, 2-0. For the game, Bickle had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Nate showed what he's made of," said New York manager John Harris.
The Hurons, now 4-11, continue their inauspicious start.
