Slumping Generals Lose 6th Straight
|
Detroit pitcher Scott Litwak had a large part in his team beating the Atlanta Generals, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Litwak, now 16-9, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Darrell Klug earned his 24th save, after closing out the game.
Troy Stallings provided a timely hit. The Detroit first baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wolverines on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Litwak said.
The Wolverines, now 77-72, have won 5 in a row.
