Dairymen Suffer One-Run Loss at Chicago
|
The Chicago Traders rode a solid performance from 35-year-old starting pitcher Bobby Peters to a win, beating the Milwaukee Dairymen, 3-2, at Union Field. Peters, now 22-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The setback makes Milwaukee 62-86.
Chicago catcher Ed White contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 141st hit of the season and put the Traders ahead, 2-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said White.
