The St. Louis Explorers locked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, knocking off the Kansas City Bulls, 4-3. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Bob Trout. He played a major role in the triumph. Bernie Tate finished to wrap up his 18th save. St. Louis bumps their record to 73-76 with the win.
Had Tom Row not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Row hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Explorers.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Trout.
