Jimmy Trent, who led the NBL in wins with 20 in 1963, imposed his will on the Hurons from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 Boston triumph. Trent got the win, improving to 6-6. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Layton Taylor got the save, the 12th for him this season.

Boston right fielder Jeff Whitlock helped the Terriers go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Whitlock hit a run-scoring single off Toronto pitcher Mike Hanlon.

"Tough loss," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "This one will sting for a while."

The Terriers, at 61-88, inhabit last place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
