Hurons Win Thriller, 4-3
|
Toronto registered a win at Dominion Field by beating the Detroit Wolverines, 4-3. Pitcher Ben Immel was one reason why the Hurons triumphed. The win went to Ron Haney in relief, making him now 6-8. Ron Laws took the loss for Detroit. Toronto currently is in 6th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division at 60-88.
Toronto got a clutch hit from Eddie McClatchey. The pinch hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Toronto skipper Jim Burns. "I can't complain."
