New York left fielder Dave Martin had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 11-10, to Montreal at LaSalle Stadium. Martin slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Al Johns converted his 23rd save in 29 tries.

Daniel Chavez, who leads the ABL in stolen bases with 48, helped out the Montreal cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Chavez. "It sure beats the alternative."

Montreal has now won 3 in a row.
