Brooklyn turned a good performance from starting pitcher Damon Rutherford into a 6-1 triumph over the New York Knickerbockers at Flatbush Park. Brooklyn is now 79-71, New York 74-76.

Rutherford had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth to put Brooklyn in front, 2-0. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly off New York pitcher Chris Hull.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Rutherford.
