Good production from left fielder Ron Freeman helped the New York Knickerbockers topple the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 10-8. Freeman slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 5 for the Knickerbockers. Wayne Houston claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 3-2. Ollie Hundley notched his 21st save in 29 chances.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Pedro Barrera was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Knickerbockers to go in front, 9-8.

"We came out aggressive," said Knickerbockers manager Timothy Widholm. "We came out swinging the bats."
