Knickerbockers Upend Bobcats, 6-1
|
New York first baseman Francisco Chavez was a significant contributor in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Cleveland Bobcats. He went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Knickerbockers. The win belonged to Harry Melendez in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Joe Clabaugh took the loss for Cleveland. The second-place Knickerbockers have won 4 consecutive games.
Chavez got the Knickerbockers off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run single.
"Solid game, solid win tonight," said a smiling Chavez.
