Washington Drops Another One, 6-1
|
The St. Louis Explorers called upon starter Bob Trout, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Washington Eagles, 6-1. Trout, now 18-10, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Eagles, at 49-101, have lost 6 straight games.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Ken Osterhage, the 26-year old center fielder . Osterhage contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth inning to put St. Louis up, 1-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Trout.
