Tapia Lifts Seagulls to 8-7 Triumph
The bat of Bobby Tapia helped the San Francisco Seagulls top the Twin Cities Northmen, 8-7. Tapia was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6 for San Francisco. Paul Wiley snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 8-4 on the season. Mike Silver got the save, his 9th in 10 chances.

Had Darrell Martin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Martin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Seagulls.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Martin, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."

With the win, San Francisco raised its record to 88-62.
