Pierce in Fine Form in 4-1 New York Win
|
The New York Empires downed the Montreal Habitants, 4-1, at LaSalle Stadium. Stellar pitching by Jon Pierce had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the ABL with a 6.5 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. New York now sits at 72-78, while Montreal falls to 82-69.
Pierce delivered a quality start for New York. The 5-foot-11 left-hander allowed no earned runs on 6 hits over 9 innings of work.
"Jon didn't monkey around out there," said New York field general Jose Placeholder.
