The San Francisco Seagulls knocked off the Los Angeles Pobladores, 4-3, in American Baseball League action at Mission Field. San Francisco pitcher and San Jose, California, native Pete Ragsdale had an outstanding performance. San Francisco raised its record to 86-64 with the win.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Francisco pinch hitter Bill Henry, facing Rick Golia, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Seagulls the 4-3 win.

"Pete throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
