The Detroit Wolverines, behind a great outing from Juan Rodriguez, who led the ABL in wins with 21 in 1968, defeated the Atlanta Generals, 3-1, at Atlantic Station Field. Rodriguez, the winner, moves to 14-11. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Detroit, at 78-73, is 2½ games up in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Jerry Plumley to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolverines on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Plumley called the win "an overall solid one."
