Habitants Rebuff Lords, 4-3
|
The Montreal Habitants topped the Baltimore Lords by a score of 4-3. Leading the way was pinch hitter Tim Delaney. Delaney went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Habitants. Montreal reliever Hervé Lelièvre, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1965 draft, was credited with the win. His record goes to 5-4. Kenny Wilson took the loss for Baltimore. The loss makes Baltimore 86-64.
Delaney had a timely hit for Montreal in the bottom of the seventh. With Montreal trailing 2-0, he turned a 1-2 splitter into a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Montreal.
Delaney told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
