The Milwaukee Dairymen and San Diego Captains provided some drama for the home crowd.

San Diego registered a win at San Diego Sporting Complex by beating the Milwaukee Dairymen, 4-3. Pitcher Dennis McAteer was one reason why the Captains triumphed. McAteer, now 2-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs.

Dave Robertson had a big 3-run home run for the Captains in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from Danny Guerra, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL in innings pitched with 33.0, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Captains on top, 4-0.

Robertson expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."

The setback makes the Dairymen 6-9.
