Quakers Get One-Run Win at Washington
|
The Philadelphia Quakers stopped the Washington Eagles, 6-5, at Monument Field. The Quakers got a big game from Rob Norton, who went 2 for 4 with a triple, while scoring 2 times. Art Wohlt got the save, his 18th in 23 chances. Philadelphia is 60-91 and Washington, with the loss, 62-90.
Third Baseman Greg Russell made an impact for Philadelphia, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Curt Kirkley in the top of the third. For the contest, Russell was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Norton said.
