The Boston Terriers faced a tenacious opponent in Detroit pitcher Scott Litwak, but still scratched out a win at Atlantic Avenue Grounds by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Litwak went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Reliever Larry Alexander picked up the win. His record improves to 7-8. Jeff Peachtree took the loss. The Terriers raised their record to 57-95.

Boston got a knockout punch from Mike Bryant. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It was bedlam at the end," Bryant said.
