Blockbusters Turn Back Burros, 4-2
|
Los Angeles Blockbusters starter Dario Fontanez led his team to victory over the Denver Burros, 4-2. The right-hander was locked-in. In 6.2 innings, Fontanez surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. He allowed 2 runs. The Blockbusters are now 73-79, while the Burros fall to 94-59.
Harvey Katzen dealt the Burros a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Los Angeles leading 1-0, Katzen, who finished 2nd in the NBL in triples with 14 in 1969, hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
Los Angeles manager John Trausch said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
