Packers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Cincinnati Packers scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the St. Louis Explorers at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Cincinnati pitcher Chris Montgomery held his own in the contest. Brian Alfieri wrapped it up, recording his 4th save. The Packers improved their record to 66-86 with the win over St. Louis.
Cincinnati took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Ron Brown hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Packers in front, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood. "This one will stick in my craw."
