Washington Falls Again, 2-1
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Cleveland-Washington ballgame.
Starting pitcher Bob Yolton was a major factor in the 2-1 Cleveland Bobcats triumph over the Washington Eagles. Yolton yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. The save went to Joe Clabaugh, his 4th this season.
Jeff Lawler had a chance to be a hero in the top of the ninth inning. With Washington trailing 2-1, Washington had a runner on 1st. But Lawler hit into a double play.
The Eagles, now 5-10, continue their inauspicious start.
