Bluebirds Bridle Knickerbockers, 2-1
|
In a tight tilt between the Brooklyn Bluebirds and the New York Knickerbockers, Dave Teckenbrock was the deciding factor. The Brooklyn right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The winner was Teckenbrock. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Chris Hull. Brooklyn bumps their record to 68-85 with the win.
The Bluebirds got a big at-bat from third baseman Bob Rawlins. For the game, Rawlins was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Brooklyn manager John Meeker said.
