Philadelphia Upended, 2-0, by New York
The New York Knickerbockers racked up a win at Quakers Stadium, bumping off the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-0. Dario Fontanez, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. New York is now 75-79, while Philadelphia is 73-80.

New York used a clutch at-bat from Rick Hotz to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Fontanez told the New York Observer.
