Knickerbockers Absorb 4-1 Home Loss
|
Brooklyn registered a win at Knickerbocker Stadium by beating the New York Knickerbockers, 4-1. Pitcher Dave Teckenbrock was one reason why the Bluebirds triumphed. Teckenbrock, now 9-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Bob Hill was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 24 save opportunities.
Brooklyn used the hitting of Ed Blain to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 4-1. For the game, Blain had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Brooklyn manager John Meeker called it "a good, solid win."
Brooklyn is now 74-79.
