Bluebirds Win Nail-Biter in 10
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds did just enough to nip the Washington Eagles, 2-1, in 10 innings. Brooklyn pitcher Jorge Sandoval, in particular, had a standout performance. The 4th-place Bluebirds have won 4 straight games.
Brooklyn needed the clutch hitting of Oscar Gonzalez to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 2-1. For the game, Gonzalez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Gonzalez called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
