Cleveland Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
The Denver Burros, behind a great outing from Keith Williams, who is tied for 10th in the NBL with a 2.54 ERA, defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 1-0, at Gates Crescent Park. The winning pitcher was Williams, now 16-9. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Frank Combs notched his 26th save in 29 chances.
With the game tied, 0-0, in the bottom of the fifth, Williams had a key at-bat for Denver. With a runner on 3rd, Williams hit a run-scoring single off Myron Baird, making the score 1-0, Burros.
"Keith had good arm action, good stuff," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
The win lifted the Denver record to 99-56.
