Hawks Earn Late Win
The Chicago Hawks defeated the Seattle Emeralds, 9-8, in 12 innings at Hyde Park Stadium. Bill Ray, who finished 2nd in the ABL in OPS with .895 in 1964, was a standout performer for Chicago. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. Rich Pritchett snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. The Hawks go to 59-95 with the win.

Ray delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 12th to win it for Chicago. In the contest, Ray went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Ray, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
