Northmen Lose to Hawks in Walk-Off
|
The Twin Cities Northmen could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Edgar Trask into a win. Instead, the Chicago Hawks prevailed, 6-5. Trask threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Chicago reliever Mickey Bromberg snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bob Cole shouldered the loss. With the win over Twin Cities, the Hawks improved to 58-97.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Chicago trailing 5-4, Bobby Richter hit a fastball from Bob Cole to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Hawks had a walk-off win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Richter. "You've got to get results."
