Cleveland Defeated By Packers, 7-3
|
The Cincinnati Packers knocked off the Cleveland Bobcats, 7-3, in National Baseball League action at Roman Arena. Cincinnati pitcher and Norton, Massachusetts, native Joe Clabaugh had an outstanding performance. In 8 innings, Clabaugh surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 7. He allowed 3 runs. The loss makes Cleveland 67-88.
With Cincinnati leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Clabaugh hit a fastball from Ted McGuire for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Packers ahead, 2-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Clabaugh. "Successful pitchers do it."
