Dairymen Beaten By Eagles, 5-0
|
The Washington Eagles downed the Milwaukee Dairymen, 5-0, at Monument Field. Stellar pitching by Tom McAteer had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the NBL in saves with 21 in 1966, handcuffed his opponent all game. Washington has now won 4 in a row.
Washington took a 5-0 lead on Mike Lockhart's 19th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Lockhart hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Milwaukee pitcher Randy Adams visibly frustrated.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Washington manager Wally Christensen.
