Quakers Take Down Knickerbockers, 7-5
|
Though he had a terrific game, Javier Guerra could not prevent his team, the New York Knickerbockers, from absorbing a loss. Philadelphia won the game, 7-5. Guerra was 4-5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Philadelphia pitcher Dave Terry earned the win, hiking his record to 5-15. Steve Worlund suffered the loss. The Quakers sport a record of 62-94.
Philadelphia needed the clutch hitting of Mike Curry to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Quakers on top, 7-5. For the game, Curry had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Curry.
