Lords Take Nail-Biter Over Empires
|
The Baltimore Lords topped the New York Empires, 4-2, in 10 innings at Seton Hill Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Baltimore pitcher Larry Diego. The Lords saw their win-loss record go to 70-86. At the same time, the Empires fell to 73-81.
The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Caito in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Jack Pratt to win the game for Baltimore. The home crowd went nuts.
Baltimore manager Steve Read commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
