Hurons Send Chicago Home with 3-1 Loss
|
The Toronto Hurons earned a close win over the Chicago Hawks, thanks in part to Alfonso Sosa. The Toronto right-hander, the 7th overall pick in the 1971 draft, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Sosa got the win, improving to 7-9. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win makes Toronto 71-84.
The Hurons had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Toronto, with one out. Chicago, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Andy Bires dug in at the plate, but on a 2-1 fastball, he lined out.
