The Washington Eagles knocked off the Cincinnati Packers, 6-3, in National Baseball League action at Roman Arena. Washington pitcher and Houston, Texas, native Tom McAteer had an outstanding performance. McAteer, now 11-13, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 7, and allowing 3 runs. The 5th-place Eagles now sit at 75-81.
Washington took control in the top of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, Phil Soroka hit a 2-run single to make it 4-2, Eagles.
"Feels good to get the job done," Soroka said after the game.
