Hawks Lose By a Run at Seattle
|
Seattle turned a fine outing from starter Denny Goldberg into a victory over the Chicago Hawks at Puget Field. The final score was 3-2. In 7.1 innings, Goldberg surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ron Woods finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Dave Robertson drove in one run for Seattle. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ken Eldridge. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty, "let me know."
Chicago is 8-8 after the defeat.
