Burros Cream Bobcats, 16-3
|
The Denver Burros got production from their entire lineup in an easy 16-3 win over the Cleveland Bobcats. Doing his part was shortstop Chuck Carr. Carr, who is on pace for 118 RBI this season, went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. Bob Langham, who finished 3rd in the NBL in saves with 26 in 1972, was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Denver improves to 93-64 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Denver took the lead on a 2-run single by Bob Langham. At the time, the Burros were trailing 1-0, but Langham's hit with two outs against Cleveland pitcher Scott Dubyak put them in front, 2-1.
"It's disappointing, but we have to move on," Cleveland manager Daniel Mays said: "You're going to have games like that."
