Quakers Absorb 3-2 Home Loss
|
The Philadelphia Quakers got a superb performance from pitcher Art Wohlt, but the Brooklyn Bluebirds still won the game, 3-2. Wohlt threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Bob Hill got the save, his 24th in 33 chances. Brooklyn is now 78-79. Philadelphia is 71-87.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Don Calise to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Calise called the win "a collective effort."
