Seagulls Lose at Home, 4-2
|
Seattle pitcher Denny Goldberg had a large part in his team beating the San Francisco Seagulls, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Goldberg picked up the win for Seattle, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 9-13. Darrell Klug was credited with the save, his 35th in 41 tries.
The Emeralds benefited from an error in the top of the fourth inning. Seattle was leading 1-0 when Don Gerwig hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Seattle in front, 3-0.
"Bottom line," said San Francisco skipper Al Borie, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Seagulls, now 91-66, have lost 4 straight.
