Walker Helps Northmen Defeat Pobladores, 7-1
|
Behind a fine performance from Pete Walker, the Twin Cities Northmen knocked off the Los Angeles Pobladores, 7-1. Walker went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Northmen. The winning pitcher was Bob Freeland. His record now stands at 8-15. The left-hander went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits for the Northmen. The Northmen go to 76-81, putting them 5th in the American Baseball League Western Division.
With Twin Cities leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Walker hit a knuckle curve from Jim Arndt for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Northmen ahead, 3-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Walker told the Twin Cities Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
