Habitants Fall Short, 3-2, at New York
|
The Montreal Habitants got a sterling performance from pitcher Rich Barron, but the New York Empires still prevailed, 3-2. Barron threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Tom Duncan got the save, his 19th in 24 chances. With the win, the Empires sit at 83-74.
New York took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Dave Matuzak hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Empires.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
