Dairymen Sneak Past Blockbusters, 4-3
|
The Milwaukee Dairymen did just enough to sneak past the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Milwaukee first baseman Tug Hollenbeck, in particular, had a standout performance. Milwaukee reliever Danny Guerra picked up the win, upping his record to 4-7. Cardell Franklin was saddled with the loss. The Dairymen go to 55-103 with the win.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bill Malstrom in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Cardell Franklin to win the game for Milwaukee. The home crowd went nuts.
"It was bedlam at the end," Malstrom said.
