Drillers Earn 6-4 Win Versus Chicago
|
Houston and Chicago duked it out and the Drillers came out victorious.
The Houston Drillers topped the Chicago Hawks, 6-4, the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Armando Amador. On the day, Amador went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Drillers. Billy Gray got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings. Picking up the save was Oscar Contreras. He's now 22 for 26 in save chances.
The Drillers got a big boost from left fielder Mike Wells who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Hawks hurler Jay Landis. It was his 78th walk of the season and put Houston on top, 1-0.
"Solid performance from our side," said Drillers manager Steven Palps.
The Drillers bumped their record to 103-55 with this latest triumph.
